Knife River Prestress is a leading provider of high-quality precast concrete products that shape the construction landscape. We are dedicated to delivering innovative precast solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. As part of our team, you'll play a critical role in the planning and execution of major construction projects.

The Estimator at Knife River Prestress will support the sales team by preparing detailed project bids for our full spectrum of precast products. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop a strong foundation in estimating and gain a deep understanding of precast products and the construction industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and grow within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Scoping Assistance:
o Develop comprehensive project scopes based on client requirements and design documents.
o Ensure project scopes are clearly defined and communicated to the project team.

Estimate Preparation:
o Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for precast projects.
o Ensure estimates cover all project costs and timelines.

Industry Knowledge and Relationship Building:
o Maintain and grow knowledge on the use of precast concrete.
o Build and maintain relationships with vendors and internal staff to optimize the sales process.

CRM and Communication:
o Utilize CRM to effectively communicate efforts to sales and production teams.
o Collaborate with outside sales and project management teams to optimize project handoffs.

Template and Toolkit Development:
o Support development of estimating templates, scope development toolkits, and product cost libraries.

Post-Job Award Support:
o Update production schedules
o Engage in WIP and revenue forecast events.
o Investigate job variances to understand bid performance and improve future estimates.

Compensation: $70,000-$110,000
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
o Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
o Experience in quantity take-offs for concrete and/or building enclosure components is a plus.

Skills and Competencies:
o Team player with a collaborative attitude, willing to help others and contribute to the team's success.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills.
o Highly organized and able to work well under demanding deadlines.
o Proficiency in software applications including Excel, Word, and BlueBeam/Adobe suites.
o Ability to read and interpret construction documents, including architectural and structural drawings.
o General CAD knowledge is a plus.
o Desire and willingness to learn and grow in the field of estimating.
