Plant Maintenance Technician

The Plant Maintenance Technician will be responsible for mechanically maintaining and fabricating all components of the quarry plant and equipment. Identifying and repairing mechanical failures and implementing preventative maintenance applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
-Must meet Knife River-South employment standards with regards to background/MVR checks.
-Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime).
-Ability to work outside in all seasons.
-Must have a “safety first” attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required.
-Previous equipment maintenance and operation preferred.
-Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor system and maintenance preferred.
-Must have good mechanical, troubleshooting skills.
-Able to come in on emergency breakdowns with short notice and work extended hours.
-Fabrication and Plumbing skills/knowledge.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures for themselves and co-workers by using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- To keep equipment running and maintained properly to maximize production and quality.
- Troubleshoot and complete maintenance & repairs on equipment.
- Use cutting torch and perform welding tasks on parts and equipment. Operate lifting devices.
- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.
- Communicate and work closely with supervisor to ensure all parts are ordered for timely repairs.
- Communicate and follow up with all employees around the quarry to ensure all equipment is running properly.
