Knife River has an excellent opportunity for an asphalt plant laborer. An asphalt plant laborer will provide
maintenance and repair of asphalt plant, and conveyor systems. Will also perform a wide range of general laboring duties at the asphalt plant.
Minimum Qualifications:
-High School dipolma or equivalent is preferred.
-Previous experience working at a plant or in a construction-related field is preferred.
-Valid driver's license and reliable transportion is preferred.
Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:
-Perform clean-up duties, oiling, lubrication, and miscellaneous repairs.
-Responsible for seeing that all safety equipment is in place at all times.
-Visually and audibly monitor plant components while in operation and notify plant supervisor of any inconsistencies.
-Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
-Timely and regular attendance is essential.
-Perform other duties as instructed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems, and maintenance.
-Must have good mechanical, troubleshooting, and some welding ability.
-Need positive attitude and the ability to work well with others and follow directions.
-Must be willing to work overtime as directed, and able to work extended hours if needed.
-Equipment operation skills helpful.
-Must be able to work long hours in all weather conditions.
-Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Extensive walking on uneven surfaces.
- Lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, odors.
- Hand eye coordination.
- Exposure to mists, adhesives, acids.
- Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting.
- Operating equipment at night under artificial lighting.
- Working in all weather conditions for extended period of time.
