As our Company Controller, you will lead and oversee all our company's financial activities. Your responsibilities include maintaining accurate ledger accounts of assets, liabilities, and transactions, ensuring timely and proper audits, and managing the development of our financial operating plan and long-term forecasts. You will prepare and report financial results in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Additionally, you will play a crucial role in strategic financial planning, risk management, and process improvement. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with executives, managers, supervisors, sales personnel, and department heads.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in majors related to accounting or finance.
• Five or more years of proven experience in an accounting or finance management role.
• Highly detail-oriented with the ability to meet assigned deadlines while working on multiple projects.
• Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage, lead, motivate, and mentor employees.
• Excellent customer relations abilities with a high degree of professionalism, and strong interpersonal / communication skills.
• Ability to operate independently with minimal supervisory oversight while accomplishing targeted objectives.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite of products and accounting-related computer software (JDE, BI, etc.).
• Strong, proven analytical and financial skills.
• High ethical and moral standards.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master of Business Administration with a focus in accounting
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
• Seven or more years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least three to five years in a senior leadership role.
• Specific experience in the construction materials supply industry.
Additional Information

• *Prepares, directs, supervises, and/or reviews all journal entries and accounting transactions affecting general ledger accounts; audits the account balances and prepares monthly financial statements. Ensures G/L accounts are maintained and account balances are reconciled while ensuring compliance with SOX, SEC, FASB, and GAAP.
• *Maintains adequate accounting records of all company assets, liabilities, and transactions.
• *Prepares and interprets financial statements, cost data, and company management reports. Assists other executives, managers, and supervisors in analyzing financial results as needed.
• *Directs the company's financial planning and capital budgeting processes. Prepares or directs the preparation of return on invested capital.
• *Assists in determining equipment depreciable rates. Assists fleet managers and operations personnel with equipment and PP&E analysis and reporting requirements.
• *Directs processes ensuring accounting controls for asset protection and financial and management information reporting. Assists fleet managers with equipment and PP&E analysis and reporting requirements. Assists in determining depreciable lives and rates.
• *Actively attend and participate in the corporate-wide controller group to establish standard procedures and practices where applicable.
• Prepares and maintains accounting procedures and policies conforming to corporate standards.
• Assists in managing the accounting department, including staffing needs and career development.
• Assists in arranging audits with internal and/or independent external auditors. Assists as necessary.
• Assists with preparing company department budgets, handles correspondence, and may provide review of employee benefit plans.
• *Always work safely and take action to prevent all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
• *Must maintain confidentiality to the highest degree and have excellent analytical abilities and team-building skills.
• *Must always maintain the highest moral and ethical standards.
• Travel may be required, sometimes for an extended period(s).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Key Skills & Competencies
• Advanced computer skills using spreadsheets, presentations, databases, and accounting software.
• Advanced knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Accounting experience in general ledger accounting and auditing, financial forecasting and budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Exposure to and experience with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements are desirable.
• Professional communication skills, including written and verbal, for internal and external customers.
• Responsible initiative-taker with a strong work ethic.
• Strong time management, organizational, and analytical skills.
