The Plant Maintenance/Welder will be responsible for mechanically maintaining and fabricating all components of the quarry and equipment. Identifying and repairing mechanical failures and implementing preventative maintenance applications. Responsible for safely welding various metal components together for repair.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Must be able to work Night Shifts. Hours/Shifts may vary depending on company demand. -Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical. -Must meet Knife River-South employment standards with regards to background/MVR checks. -Able to come in on emergency breakdowns with short notice and work extended hours. -Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises. -Must have a “safety first” attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required. -Previous equipment maintenance and operation preferred. -Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor system and maintenance preferred. -Must have good mechanical, troubleshooting skills. -Must have thorough knowledge of welding materials, welding properties, and various types of metals. ---Must be able to interpret blueprints. -Must be able to wire feed welding machines to hard face and fabricate and repair liners. -Must be able to perform brazing, welding, arc welding, and cutting tasks.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Communicate and work closely with supervisor to ensure all parts are ordered for timely repairs. - Communicate and follow up with all employees around the quarry to ensure all equipment is running properly. - Perform electrical troubleshooting of automatic roll welder where applicable - Accurately complete work orders or other welding documentation. - Ensure OSHA, DOT, MSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance. - Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and welding repairs on fixed machinery and equipment, including crushers, conveyors, screens, and other quarry equipment. - Utilize welding skills to repair and fabricate metal components as needed. - Repair and maintain conveyor belts, including splicing and replacing damaged sections to ensure uninterrupted material handling. -Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions promptly. -Conduct preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment. -Maintain accurate records of maintenance, welding, and conveyor belt repair activities, including work orders, inspection reports. -Collaborate with other maintenance technicians and quarry personnel to coordinate repairs and maintenance schedules. -Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures. -Assist in procuring spare parts and materials necessary for maintenance, welding, and conveyor belt repair tasks.
