At Knife River, our financial team works to provide accounting and analytical support regarding financial transactions and statistics. The role of this position ranges from preparing supplemental data analysis for management and operations personnel to assisting in daily activities necessary to performing financial accounting monthly close processes. This position is based in Bryan-College Station.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One to three years of related experience preferred, recent graduates considered
- Accounting or financial analysis experience in construction materials supply industry is preferred
- Excellent analytical and financial skills
- Microsoft Excel proficient – able to create and modify pivot tables, macros, etc.
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation abilities
- Reliable during crucial accounting periods, i.e., month, quarter, and year end close
- Maintain confidentiality of financial data
- Adaptable and able to multitask and manage priorities in periods of peak volume
- Maintain composure under pressure and meet deadlines with great attention to detail of deliverables
- “Safety first” attitude- strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Meet Knife River-South employment standards with regards to background/MVR checks
Key Skills and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Provide accounting and analytical support in the processing and reporting of financial transactions
- Prepare statistical data of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial results
- Assist in the preparation of daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
- Assist in the preparation of financial and operating plans and plan updates
- Provide assistance and analysis on special projects or other financial activities on an ad hoc basis
- Adhere to accounting controls and procedures
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
- Assist operations and plant managers to enable process improvements and provide accurate financial data to make business decisions
- Support data analysis for sales team as needed
- Support Accounting department on an ad hoc basis
- Perform other duties as assigned
