Knife River has an excellent opportunity for a Payroll Coordinator to manage the weekly payroll processing and labor reporting functions, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical • Must meet Knife River-South employment standards with regards to background/MVR checks • Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours • Must have a “safety first” attitude. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures is required • High school diploma or GED plus 1-2 years’ experience in payroll processing and/or accounting • Strong Excel skills, and knowledge of UKG Workforce Central (Kronos), Heavy Job, JD Edwards and Business Intelligence programs is preferred • Excellent mathematical abilities, spelling, and grammar • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills • Time management and excellent organizational abilities, especially during peak volume • Accurate and efficient data entry abilities • Must be a detail-oriented, independent worker with strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and analytical skills • Maintains confidentiality with employees and non-employees while remaining courteous, professional, respectful, and positive at all times • Position requires an 8AM to 5PM schedule, with occasional required overtime particularly during month-end Close
Duties and/or Responsibilities
• Payroll information collection and data entry • Verify and complete the payroll processing functions • Prepare required labor reports • Verify accuracy of re-employment earnings and hours • Track child support and wage garnishments and submit into ExpertPay • Assist employees with questions and concerns regarding their wages, deductions, etc. • Verify certified payroll reports • Remain knowledgeable of reporting laws and regulations on an annual basis • Must maintain strict confidentiality of all payroll/employee/company information • Provide assistance to other accounting and HR department personnel as needed, i.e, data requests, analysis, reporting, etc. • Assist former employees with questions in relation to their earnings, W-2, etc. • Assist Accounting Supervisor and Controller as needed • Other duties as assigned
